The ghosts of the past
Follow us in the now
In life, it went too fast
They long to touch, but they know not how.
That shaded corner of the room
A feeling of them watching us
Darkness that seems to loom
Our nostrils smell the musk
We know you are there
Just out of sight
No matter how long we stare
You never come to the light
Are you the monster under my bed
Or in the cupboard locked away
Is it fear you long to be fed
Or can it be the love you miss each day
Have I got you all so wrong
Could it be you want me so
Because of the bond, we had for so long
Are here to see me grow
